Scrapbooking

Hello all,
I've been pretty busy lately with all my traveling, crafting, and going to work. Recently, I started a personal project that will be rather time consuming, but fabulous in the end. As many of you know, I spent 6 weeks vacationing in Europe this year.

Putting a month and a half's worth of vacation memories into one book will be challenging, especially since I experienced so much every single day! The first order of business will be to come up with a method of organizing everything so the book flows smoothly.

So far, I'm still deciding whether to break the book down into countries or turn it into more of a daily/weekly log. I'm leaning toward the countries, I think... we'll see.

I purchased a 12x12 faux leather scrapbook with a window in the front cover at my local Michaels store. In the window, I placed a card with a hand written quote, "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."~St. Augustine.

As this particular scrapbook is dedicated soley to my trip overseas, the quote is quite fitting. It is also quite true, so great! A sprinkling of other quotes will also be incorporated throughout the book. Here are a few I found:

"One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things."~ Henry Miller

"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware."~ Martin Buber

"Tourists don’t know where they’ve been, travelers don’t know where they’re going."~ Paul Theroux

"Not all those who wander are lost."~ J.R.R. Tolkien
"Like all great travelers, I have seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen."~ Benjamin Disraeli
"Too often travel, instead of broadening the mind, merely lengthens the conversation."~ Elizabeth Drew
"Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind."~ Seneca
"It is not down in any map; true places never are." ~Herman Melville
"And that’s the wonderful thing about family travel: it provides you with experiences that will remain locked forever in the scar tissue of your mind."~ Dave Barry
"Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness." ~ Ray Bradbury
"If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay home."~ James Michener
"If God had really intended men to fly, he’d make it easier to get to the airport."~ George Winters
"I dislike feeling at home when I am abroad."~ George Bernard Shaw
"I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine."~ Caskie Stinnett
"A passport, as I’m sure you know, is a document that one shows to government officials whenever one reaches a border between countries, so the officials can learn who you are, where you were born, and how you look when photographed unflatteringly."~ Lemony Snicket
