Live and Learn- a reflection on this past weekend's show

Hello readers,

This reflection is a bit overdue, but I chose to take a few days to cool down before writing about the event in order to avoid sounding harsh. To put it nicely, the Vendors' Gift and Craft Fair at the Armagh Fire Hall was an utter disappointment.

Due to the severely lacking performance on the event organizer's part, customer traffic was remarkably low. Advertising was utterly non-existent. Without so much as a sign outside the venue or listing on the marquee, potential customers drove by without a thought to stop in.

Inexplicably, I managed to break even on the cost of my space on the first day. It must have been the lack of customer traffic providing other crafters and vendors ample time to shop around and visit my table. Had it not been for them, I would have been out $50 and thoroughly upset.

On the second day, another crafter brought her own sign to place outside. I was cautiously optimistic that the sign would bring a larger crowd. It couldn't have brought a smaller crowd, and it might have worked if the organizers hadn't moved the raffle table outside and blocked the door. Who knows how many potential customers were lost thanks to their rudeness? Obviously, I will not be doing that particular show again.

As I tend to be a generally positive person, I will close this entry with a few good things to come of the event.

1. I ordered a new custom-carved sign which I am excited to see. It will be much nicer than the framed piece of paper I currently have. I will be sure to upload a picture of it when it arrives.
2. I received information from other crafters and vendors regarding upcoming, hopefully more successful/well-advertised, shows.
3. I made new friends and learned a few things.
4. My space looked pretty nice.
