I haven't been one to use much spray paint in my life. Those that possess the talent to create beautiful works with the medium definitely have my respect (as long as they're displaying their talent legally and not marking up buildings, trains, etc). After picking up a few mismatched pieces at Michaels for the kitchen, I decided to give spray paint a whirl. The results? Not too shabby if I say so myself.
I picked up a can of glossy light blue and a can of brown hammered metal to do these pieces then layered them with a coat of light blue, then the brown, then the blue, then the brown, then the blue one more time. The result was kind of neat and I like how they turned out.
First: a minor difference in the birdcage shelf on which I intend to store coffee mugs and my ceramic tea set. You can really see the reaction the 2 paints had with each other when applied while they were still wet:
Next: a lazy susan... I really like this one because the light blue is a bit less harsh than the original teal:
All in all, I believe they turned out rather nicely and would definitely use spray paint again. Only difference is that I would use gloves and a mask to keep the paint particles out of my nose and off my hands. Live and learn, right?
