New Digs

Hello again, part of me doubts that anyone follows this blog anymore. I don’t blame you if you don’t.  It’s been a long time since I’ve posted and that’s entirely my own fault. I decided to post again tonight in order to get some ideas down before I lose them. If you’re reading this, thank you and please comment to let me know that you’re here. I’m excited to get back into creating but have found myself in a bit of a creative rut for the past few years. A few pretty cool art pieces have come out but I’ve also struggled to find inspiration.

I purchased a house several months ago. 3 bedrooms, 1 bath with a bonus toilet and utility sink in the basement... insert excitement over a  future kick-ass personal  bar in  that basement as it has a cool “bonus room” space that is screaming to become a speakeasy for myself and my friends! More on that later.

As a single woman with nothing but fur-children, a full time job, and grad school to keep me busy, I find that having 3 bedrooms is perfect for creating an art studio.

The future awesome, currently moderately functional art studio is on the main floor, just off the kitchen and living room, and has a beautiful sliding glass door to an awesome backyard with a handful of gorgeous trees and other plants I have yet to discover. The woman that’s lived in this house previously took obviously great care of her plants and yard. I hope I continue to do the gardens justice.

I’ve already designated the room  to serve as my work office and art studio.   With my limited furniture supply, the space leaves much to be desired. I had to move out of my old rental place pretty fast due to a couple of unhinged neighbors, so I didn’t take the chance to rent a bit longer and  slowly and build the space  I'd originally planned. I have no regrets, though. This is a nice little house with s good yard and a community in which I’m slowly becoming to find my place.

The fur kids are loving their extra space and I’m loving that I have more space.  a room in the attic, several closets, a basement that can be used for additional living space, and a garage that will become a workshop someday. I would’ve preferred to park my vehicle in the garage but it’s too small for an SUV to fit through the door. Rather than being annoyed, I decided it’ll make an awesome workshop for reviving old furniture, making messier art projects, and building new things.
